A region with many faces

The Hunsrück with the bordering regions Rhine-Mosel-Nahe offers recreation seekers as well as active vacationers a variety of possibilities.

Whether you like hiking, biking or climbing, are interested in castles and palaces or simply love to stroll through historic streets and alleys - Kastellaun and its surroundings have it all. Experience a boat trip on the Moselle, enjoy the view after climbing the legendary Loreley Rock or discover the beautiful forests on foot, e.g. on the "Traumschleifen" (premium hiking trails) of the Hunsrück - lots of leisure activities that can be reached in a short distance. If you wish, we can reserve bicycles (also e-bikes) for you on site. Germany's most beautiful suspension rope bridge "Geierlay" in Mörsdorf - only a few kilometers away from Kastellaun - promises a special kick. It spans 360 meters over a stream valley between Mörsdorf and Sosberg at a lofty height of 100 meters! Combine a trip to the bridge with a hike around the "Geierlay".

Experience "HEIMAT" and follow in the footsteps of the well-known Hunsrück saga which was filmed in Hunsrück in the mid-80s. The latest film work by Edgar Reitz "Die andere Heimat" is dedicated to the story of emigrants from Hunsrück to Brazil in the mid-19th century and premiered in German cinemas in 2013.

The best way to immerse yourself in the history of the castle town of Kastellaun is on a guided tour of the town - especially romantic on a tour with the night watchman after dark.
